Rapid developments of ICT has helped the exponential growth of information, both in physical and digital format. Moreover, paradigm shift of user's information needs calls for customized information service. But search engines and web directions fail to deliver desired results as these search results are of high recall value but of low precision. The volume of information resources on the internet continues to grow exponentially. As a result, the search engines and internet directories are unable to provide desired search results due to information overload.
This book can provide a solution to this problem. The book starts with a historical background of subject gateways. At first it defines the subject gateways then it analyses the published literature on subject gateways. Subsequently, it describes the development of subject gateways 164 Nos. across the world in a tabular form. A brief outline on ' how to develop a subject gateway' is also included. at the end, a comprehensive bibliography on subject gateway is also given for the readers.
